The sunnys in Cocoa Beach recently closed down so the wife and I went to this merrit island location. We where happy to find it much better than the Cocoa Beach one. Cleaner, better service, cleaner better salad bar and nicer new decor. One of the better sunnys .

A group of us decided to go have barbecue at Sonny's. The service was good but the food was just ok. The meat could have been a little more tender. I like my meat to fall of the bone and this was not like that.

I like this Sonny's location. While not perfect, they generally always get your order right. I've gotten raw corn fritters here once. Other than that, they've consistently had fresh, delicious foods, especially their pulled pork. If my memories serves me, they also have a salad bar that is great. I like that they have a drive through because the dining experience here isn't the best.

Love Sonny's tea & food. I've visited a variety of locations. Had dinner at Sonny's Merritt Island location a few days ago. My husband's food was okay. Some of the meal was hot while the other parts were cold. The first sweet tea I received tasted 'old'. The second refill that I received (..at the end of my meal..) tasted great. My pork had lots and lots of fat on it. It resembled more like a fatty pieces of bacon with too little of meat on it. I ended up not eating any of it. The green beans were not "country style" that other Sonny's locations usually serve. I wasn't impressed and was let down with this Sonny's location.

Sonny's is a staple BBQ source that is consistently good, not great. In general, the tea is great, the sides are decent and you will rarely leave disappointed. Given the choices in the local area, it's probably still the best. I have found that the servers usually know what's fresh and best at that moment and they don't mind recommending if you ask. The brisket and dry rub ribs are my favorite, but last trip the server said that the sweet and smokey were fresh up and the better choice. They were right. Sonny's is a good overall choice and worth keeping on the once a week list.

We ate at sonny and love ordering the family meal for 4 but the last time we ate, we're just served for 3 person while we pay for 4,person... my boys eat a lot so even we're just 3 people, they eat like 4 or 5... lol.. we're not ask if we want a pull pork they just served us the meal and when i asked them that i want a pull pork and brisket, i was told that u should say it when u ordered it. I am disappointed bec. At yhe other branch, they used to ask us first if what we want... i dont like this branch same as thw one at irlo Bronson memorial highway.... i like the one at the Palm beach

This location never fails to satisfy me. The food is what you expect from a Sonny's so that gets a 3 - 3 1/2 stars. This location is clean and the staff is great. If you like Sonny's or chain BBQ, try this place! If you haven't tried it - get the fried okra (just leave some for me or I'll hunt you down!). The Sweet Tea is just raight (hard to spell southern, but I think I nailed it). The sliced, smoked turkey is my fave. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs are pretty good too. Try the sizzlin' sweet BBQ sauce. Wings - I've only tried the rubbed ones but they're a good sze and tasty.

5 Stars only for the Food , 0 Stars for Service . . . . I had problems before and thought to give them another try . . . The Blonde that was working the Bar today seemed to be very distant with me . Took my order but I was not greeted coming in , wasn't thanked when leaving or asked at anytime during my meal if everything was alright. The cook did an excellent job of cooking my burger to perfection (medium rare ) as I asked. and the fries again cooked crisp like asked. This girl is the same one I had problems with over a month ago and wrote a bad review about because she took care of friends first even though I was sitting at bar before they came in and took a seat. This Time The food was excellent and no problems , thanks to the cook. I shouldn't have left a tip and next time regardless if she serves me I wont leave a penny after not even a thank-you from her upon leaving. Another thing that hasn't changed is it's still a place for waitresses to congregate with other staff and also read their texts from their phones that are in their purses left up front , put their personal belongings in the back in the managers office while at work. I FEEL THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF THIS LOCATION IS THAT IT'S RUN BY KIDS , I BELIEVE IT MAY BE TIME TO GO TO ONE OF BREVARD'S OTHER BBQ RESTAURANTS . . . THE DEMISE OF FAT BOY'S BBQ YEARS AGO HAPPENED WHEN SENIOR KELLER GAVE THE DUTIES OF RUNNING IT TO HIS GRANDSON AND NOW A CLASSIC LIKE FAT BOY'S IS NO MORE

We were very disappointed in the quality of the service and the food during a recent visit. Everything came out cool to almost cold and the waitress just didn't seem to care. We've had great experiences at this location before. Management didn't seem to care to make an adjustment on our bill.

Had such a good dinner at Sonny's tonight , our waitress Ally recommended red neck egg roles and peach cobbler for dessert . We are going to get them all the time now. She was so funny, she should be a stand up comic. From now on that's our girl.

The food was good as usual but the service was not good at all. It took the waitress forever to get to us to get our drink order and then after that there were no refills. Typically I really enjoy going here but this time not too much.

This is a BBQ place. However, they do have fried cat fish and shrimp. American southern style foods! Mac and cheese, mash potato, grilled veggies and more. They offer a bottomless all you can eat salad bar. The salad bar is fresh! Prices are reasonable. YUM-me!

"At Sonnys now. The first baked potato was cold and had a burnt flavor. They brought what was suppose to be a fresh potato. It was hot, but tastes burned and way over cooked. Can't eat this. I asked for the manager. He brought us french fries. Not what we ordered or wanted. After the manager left the table next to us had the same problem with their food. They asked for a fresh potato and they were brought another over done potato. I am surprised they would continue to serve the same thing with multiple complaints.

It is hard to impress me with ribs. They are one of my favorite foods. The all you can eat ribs here are better here than many places baby back ribs. It is important to slow cook them and the rub must be applied perfectly. I had no complaints and will return soon. The service was exelent and my drink never hit bottom. Unlike many places with all you can eat ribs that make you wait a great deal of time between servings Sonny's wants to see how much you can hold down! Get there early as the place fills up fast.

Sonny's is a chain of BBQ places in the south. The formula is pretty good with pit smoked barbecue. They have four kinds of sauces: mild, sweet, smoky, and hot. I had the ribs and pulled brisket. Sides were green beans and corn. Nice simple decor with wooden tables. Had a friendly server. Loved the meats. Both were tender and juicy. Nice tasting. Prices are reasonable. They have an all you can eat section on the menu. Hint: order the all you can eat ribs, and they will bring you as many ribs and any other meat you want for the same price. A feast for sure. If you are in the Space Coast area and hankering for some BBQ, Sonny's is the place.

Ate there last night and it was alright. Not bad at all...the fried okra and nuggets were good. I had pork 3 ways with sides of mac n chesses, baked beans. Devored the mac n Cheese. Cleaned the plate...lol. My favorite sauce is the smokey as it has a nice kick to it. Also they were out of coors light, not a big fan but will drink over Bud Lite any day of the week. Had to drink Mich Ultra...beer selection definitely could be updated.

While I've heard good things about Sonny's, I will never go to this one again. Yes, my ribs were good; however, the poor service (manager included) aren't worth good food. I cannot remember the last time I left a restaurant without leaving a tip, but I didn't leave one this time.

Love the baby back rib lunch special! Service today was amazing. Went thru drive thru although they were busy food was fresh, sweet tea was perfect!

I am from the Gainesville area live on Merritt Island and have had Sonny's BBQ for over 25 years and I have met Sonny Tillman the name sake. For the life of me the prices are going out the roof in the last three years. Just around 3 years ago the Big Deal was 5.95 now it was raised again recently to 8.49.????.. This was the second price increase in just a few months from 7.95, To give you more background around 2 years ago it was 6.95. I just want a good simple pork sandwich fries and a drink but 8.49 dang gum...... The food and service is always good but come on man with the prices your killing us. The Big Deal has gone up 45% but have we received a 45% pay increase in three years??

A good bbq place is hard to find and Sonny's delivers a consistently good meal. I like to drop in here at least once when I visit from California and get my old staple of the beef brisket which is lean and moist. My last time in was even more pleasant because of Tiphanie. Not only was she efficient but also funny and personable. I will ask for her next time I go in.

  • Ray N.

Not good.... hamburger was cold, fries were cold. I was obvious the wait staff was more interested in their own agenda instead of providing service to the customer. The kids meals were disappointing. Service was slow as usual. I begrudgingly went because my experience has been consistently underwhelming. I will not go again..... Place needs a deep clean, everything feels slimy.

The ribs we had were succulent at this location. We were pleasantly surprised. Huge meal with baked beans, cole slaw, cornbread, many choices for your sides. We got the baby backs, it's the only thing we seem to get at sonny's. The best thing on the menu imo.

  • Karen L.

When the okra is hot and the ribs are juicy this is great. But sometimes the place is dirty, or we are seated next to the loud screaming baby, or the food is stone cold. When we ask for a cleaner spot to sit and they the whole place is dirty, we just leave. When we ask for a quiet spot and they sit us in the family area anyway, we just leave. We have tried going at 11:30, the beginning of lunch, but the food was stone cold. Service is always a surprise, either great or awful. I would give it a 5 star if they could be more consistent. When it is good, we love it and this is a good value for the money. Sliced pork and ribs are good choices.
